Rob Solomon – Optometrist  |  Dip Optom FOA(SA), MC Optom (UK)

Robert has been married to Leila for 24 years and they have two young adult children with whom they delight in spending time with outdoors and exploring the wonders of our Cape lifestyle. When not at work, Rob spends much of his free time engaging in various sporting interests including mountain biking, running, hiking and gym workouts. Robert gained experience as a newly qualified Optometrist by working in various practices in Cape Town, Windhoek and Johannesburg including Groote Schuur Hospital Ophthalmology department as well as some trips with Bureau for Prevention of Blindness. His British qualifications also allowed Rob to spend time working for the Mobile Clinic in the UK which specialized in home visits to the Aged all over the UK. Robert has special interest in prevention and detection of macular degeneration and has procured instruments to this end. “Optometry is a truly challenging, enjoyable profession and I am proud to be the Senior Optometrist at SpecsDirect, surrounded by such a competent team of people”.

Peter Solomon – Dispensing Optician  |  ND Optical Dispensing (SA), FBDO (UK)

Peter has been married to Tracy for 22 years. They have two children. They spend most weekends outdoors – walking their dogs, hiking and mountain biking. He particularly enjoys MTB stage racing in all corners of South Africa, riding through this beautiful country of ours. For 2 years after he qualified, Peter gained vast retail and dispensing experience working in optometric practices in Cape Town. Shortly afterward, he and Rob joined in a partnership that has lasted over 27 years. Peter ran a frame import and distribution company and was also involved in a lens manufacture laboratory. He is still involved in the Optical Dispensing course in an advisory capacity. Peter has a very keen interest in digital marketing, communication and advertising. Staff training and education is high up on his priority list. Keeping abreast of the latest international developments that affects our profession is of utmost importance, so that we can continue to provide the best possible products and service to our clientele.
